When you become a Warden Member of The Sanctuary Camping Club you’ll be ready to welcome guests to enjoy camping on your piece of land. You wont need any other planning permission, licenses or anything else as long as you run within the guidelines that we specify.

It”s that simple!

You’ll also get as much free advice and support as you want to get you started, a basic listing on our website and an introduction pack that puts everything we will have already told you in one handy place.

ADVERTISE YOUR SITE HOWEVER AND WHEREVER YOU WANT.

WHAT WE GET

A small fee each year for issuing your certificates, hosting your site information and helping you deal with any complaints or problems that you come across.
The joy of knowing that by providing you with an exemption certificate, we can support and promote environmental awareness at a time when it is so desparately needed.
The satisfaction of knowing that people will have access to retreats in beautiful rural locations where they can find sanctuary away from the stresses of contemporary living.
If you want us to get involved, we get the pleasure of following our passion for rescuing waste and turning it into things that your guests will just love!

There are no hidden fees. What we say is exactly what you get. If you want more specialist advice or a more hands on approach, we’re happy to help. You’ll know exactly how much anything will cost before we start and even then, you’ll be free to change your mind. Just ask and we’ll listen. If there’s one thing we definitely understand, it’s that every site is different.

HOW IT WORKS

Firstly, we’ll talk to you. We look at each site individually. (We currently only accept applications from Norfolk because that’s how we keep our prices and our own carbon footprint down.

We’ll find out how much or how little help you want, it’s entirely up to you.

You can choose to offer tent pitches, caravan and camper van pitches, glamping pitches or even just small tent pitches for people on foot or bicycle. Your choice, we can cover all sorts of things.

Your land doesn’t have to be a certain size, flat, manicured or even have any fancy facilities. Access depends entirely on what you want to offer.

How busy would you like to be? We can do all sorts of things including literally, put you on the map! The number of pitches you can offer will depend on where you are, the size of your land and the layout.

CHOOSE YOUR STYLE

It’s entirely up to you what you want to offer and we have a few things in place to keep everything lovely.

The Sanctuary Camping club is family and animal friendly but we also understand if you have reasons not to allow children or animals on your site.

Under 18s must always be accompanied by an adult just to ensure they’re learning the unique requirements of outdoor and countryside living.

We love dogs but not everyone is comfortable with them and any nearby livestock definitely wont be. For these reasons, dogs must always be kept on leads.

Outside fires and BBQs are an integral part of any outside living experience but we also understand if you prefer not to have them on your site.

If you do allow them, they need to be raised off the ground and away from anything flammable. You’ll need to make your own decisions regarding fire safety in hot, dry weather and let your Insurer know you allow them.

Facilities are entirely up to you. Where they are provided, we have certain requirements to ensure that they’re safe and environmentally responsible.

We’re also happy to support and help with Eco-solutions such as compost loos, composting and rainwater harvesting.

WHO CAN WE ISSUE A CERTIFICATE TO?

Above all, we need to know that you will work with us to protect the environment in whatever way you can and spread a little kindness when you welcome your guests.

Anyone with a suitable piece of land for camping on – We’ll check out your proposed site for location, environmental sensitivity, available access, safety, neighbouring properties and visual impact.

We may run a quick Council check to make sure they have no objections and try to address any issues that may concern them.

There’s no minimum size but the area you have available will determine the number of pitches we will allow and how many bins etc. you will need. (You may be surprised by the amount of waste that can come out of one small tent….)

We will consider proposals for sites within AONB and other areas that may not normally get planning permission for a camp site. We can even look at some proposals for sites that have had planning permission refused.

We can only support sites in Norfolk and parts of East Anglia at the moment unless by special agreement. We check and monitor the sites that we issue certificates to, so distance adds cost and environmental impact. We feel that this undermines our sustainability policy.
